It’s because few agents really listen or take the time to understand what you want and why, causing two problems:
1. They dont get really hear what you want, and
2. They dont make suggestions of other options to accomplish the same thing.

Smart agents sit down and have a good conversation with you, asking questions to discover what you want and why. They’re honest with you and tell you if your goals are realistic. If not, they make suggestions to help you find a home that fits your needs and wants.
Perhaps you’re better off with a 3BR/2BA…or even a 3BR/1BA in a better neighborhood, a house that you can add a 2nd bath to later.
For your situation, have a serious talk with your agent or go find another one who’ll ask you the right questions, listen to your answers, and show you homes you like.
