Question:
“I listed my home with an agent and it sold in three days over list price. I asked her to take a lower commission because she didn’t have to work very hard. I know you’re an agent, but don’t you think that’s a little greedy?”
Answer:
I’ll answer your question with a few questions of my own:
- Since you want to pay her less because it sold quickly, would you have paid her a bonus if it took longer to sell?
- Does it make sense to try to penalize her for doing a great job?
- If I accidentally found a map showing where $1,000,000 in gold was buried, and would sell you the map for $100, would you refuse because I got lucky and found the map?
Ultimately, the true question is: are you paying by the hour or by the result?
You’re paying for the RESULT. So stop complaining and pay the lady for her good work.
