Question:
“We want to buy a home, but have never bought a home before. Where do we start?”
Answer:
The first thing you should do is make a list of questions you have.
The next thing is to call an agent you know and trust. Depending on how soon you plan to buy, you might talk on the phone or meet in person to get a game plan.
If you don’t have an agent you know and trust, ask a friend or family member with good business sense if they can recommend an agent. Be sure they’re recommending someone because they’ve worked with them before and NOT because that agent is a friend or relative.
Some people as their first step will talk with a lender before they talk with an agent.
This isn’t necessarily a bad idea, but I suggest talking with the agent first as they may have a lender THEY know and trust that you should talk with.
