Question:
“Does replacing grass with artificial turf increase property value or not?”
Answer:
Great question.
I used to say absolutely not. Now I’ll soften that and say probably not.
But, with this water shortage, shouldn’t artificial turf make a home more desirable and slightly more valuable?
As I’ve said before, people buy on emotion and justify with logic. Replacing grass with no-water-needed artificial turf definitely appeals to logic. But it doesn’t really get those emotions going like a lush green lawn does.
I will say that some of the better turf is starting to be a little tough to tell apart from grass. Once it improves further, then artificial turf may indeed become a value add.
