It looks like either a cheese grater or one of those big old-style microphones, but this building actually houses a state-of-the- art research facility.
Completed just last year, the structure’s unique facade was inspired by the pattern of a pine cone. It offers shielding from the sun while still letting in ambient light and allowing people to look outside.
The other interesting feature of the building is its overall shape: it’s quite thin for its size, and the base is quite a bit smaller than the rest. The building juts out a good 30 feet from the base at either end. It looks like it might topple at any moment!
