As you know, we are in the midst of a terrible drought here in California. While it hasn’t been a good thing, we can say that it has not really had an impact on real estate.
A lot of people aren’t watering their lawns, so brown lawns are becoming more and more common from sellers, and buyers don’t care about them too much. That being said, a green lawn is still going to sell for a higher price, because people buy based on emotion and that’s what a green lawn brings them.
A lot of people are going to Xeriscape, rocks, or wood chips, which is a great alternative. Others are installing artificial grass. When it comes to doing this, try to find something that looks authentic, because a fake-looking lawn can turn buyers off and come off as tacky.
So, the drought may have an effect on the market in the future, but for right now, it hasn’t affected much. If you have any questions for us, feel free to give us a call or send us an email. We look forward to hearing from you!
