If you’re thinking of buying a home, you’re probably wanting to know how long a seller has to respond to an offer that you’re making on the property.
This answer isn’t so cut and dry, so let me explain. The offer has to have a life-span, after which it becomes null and void. The default time in California is currently three days, and sometimes people will not even look at that number.
Sellers will usually respond within a day or two, or whenever they are ready. Sometimes it can be a few hours, and sometimes it might be a few days.
Technically speaking, they should respond to you in whatever amount of time the contract states, but it’s tough to tell when they will actually respond.
There are a number of factors which could prevent them from getting back to you. It can help to hire a real estate agent who’s well-versed in communicating with buyer agents. Sometimes that can speed up the process.
