The “Eye Museum” is in fact the Oscar Niemeyer Museum, which earned its nickname due to the eye-catching design of its central tower.
The annex consists of a 60-foot pillar topped with a giant eye-shaped structure, all hovering above a reflecting pool.
Its construction includes a large glass facade to let plenty of natural light into the exhibition space. It’s connected to the rest of the museum via underground walkway.
It’s an impressive design, but I can’t help but think it looks a little creepy. I wonder if it reminds anyone else of Eye of Sauron from Lord of the Rings?
