Buying a San Diego home? Search all homes for sale
When it comes to selling your home, one of the things that goes into the process is playing hide and seek. What do I mean by that?
Well, with your home being on the market for buyers to see—you’ll need to store away, or hide, certain items from view.
There are four categories of things you should hide when selling your home. The first two are similar and are more so for your safety than for buyer appeal.
When selling your home, remember not to leave out any cash and to put away any small valuables such as jewelry. In my 30 years of experience, I’ve never had anything stolen from a client’s home. However, that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. Caution is key.
“Caution is key.“
Next, remember not to have any weapons out. Whether you’re a hunter, collector, or otherwise, having things like guns or knives in a place where they could be easily found by buyers is something you should always avoid.
Buyers often like to check out drawers, cabinets, and closets—so be mindful of moving any of these kinds of belongings before buyers are let into the home.
Finally, hide any prescription medications. Sadly, some people seek out certain prescription drugs. Leaving them out in the open leaves you vulnerable for theft. It’s far better to be safe than sorry.
