MahaNakhon or “great metropolis” is located in Bangkok, Thailand. It is 1,030 feet tall and contains 77 stories. The unusual design, by internationally renowned architect Ole Scheeren was created to blend the inner life of the building with the rest of the city. Another goal was to portray an irregular mountain landscape in a modern way.
This “pixel” effect circles around the entire building. One of the design’s benefits is to optimize unobstructed views of the city.
Inside is a luxury hotel, and residences which range in size from 1,350 square feet to 8,930 square feet. The Sky Bar and restaurant at the top offers 360-degree views of the city. The Cube, a separate 7 story building at the foot of MahaNakhon contains several restaurants.
