Question:
“I’ve heard it’s very hard to get a loan because banks just aren’t lending. Is that true?”
Answer:
Not at all.
It’s true that after the wild and irresponsible days of “fog the mirror” and you qualify for a mortgage, the pendulum swung the other way and banks were overly strict on qualifying.
So, yes, you actually have to have a steady job, decent credit, and usually even a down payment in order to qualify for a home loan!
But, still, banks today have significantly loosened their lending standards. My advice is don’t assume you don’t qualify (sorry for the double negative) and do talk with a good mortgage lender. I’ve used a GREAT one for 32 years and will be happy to give you his info. Just call me at 858-457-KENT.
