If you’re a home seller, technology has vastly sped up how quickly you can list your home and receive an offer for it.
Do you know how much technology has sped up how a home is marketed?
Back in the “dark ages” (i.e., when I first started in real estate), when an agent listed a home for sale, we’d first have to send its information to the MLS. About a week later, we’d get an MLS book in the mail with the home’s profile included somewhere inside it. After that, we’d start calling everyone we knew to tell people about the home. It would take a few weeks before everyone even knew your home was for sale.
Now, all we have to do is enter a home’s information into the online MLS and the cell phone of every homebuyer in San Diego starts buzzing instantly. In my estimation, within 72 hours, 90% of all people looking for a home like yours will have seen your listing.
“Because a home can get listed quickly, it’s more common to get offers quickly.”
This quickening of the marketing process brings with it certain benefits. In the old days, we’d have to wait as long as a month to know whether a property was priced right. Now, we can tell within a matter of days. Also, because a home can get listed quickly, it’s more common to get offers quickly.
That being said, if you want to sell your home quickly and for top dollar, give me a call and I’d be glad to help you get started. If you’re thinking of buying a home or you have any other questions about our San Diego market, feel free to reach out to me as well. I look forward to speaking with you.
