Question:
“I’m talking with an agent who’ll list my home at 4%. She hasn’t sold that many homes and isn’t as successful as you are, but will you match her fee?”
Answer:
Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?
It sounds like if I matched her fee, you’d have me sell your home, correct?
And by your comments, that’s because you know she’s not going to do as good a job or get you as good of a result, right?
And you might even realize that an agent who can’t negotiate their own fee isn’t going to do much better when they negotiate the price of your home.
So if I do more for you and get you a better result and a higher price, aren’t my services worth more than hers?
You get my point.
But if I haven’t made the case, an analogy:
Would you go to a Mercedes dealer and ask them to match the price of a similar-size Kia*?
I’m guessing you wouldn’t.
(*A Kia is a fine car, but it’s no Mercedes.)
