Question:
“At what stage do I hire a lawyer when I’m buying a home?”
Answer:
“You ain’t from around these parts, are ya?”
(If you haven’t seen an old western movie, that’s a typical line the locals tell a stranger who bellies his way up to the bar in a dusty old saloon in some dusty old town.)
What I mean to say is, you’ve probably bought a home somewhere outside southern California. And I say that because in many parts of the country lawyers handle much of the process instead of escrow and title companies.
Now, to answer your question…
Few people buying homes in San Diego hire an attorney because it’s not required.
At the same time, I’d never advise you or any client not to have an attorney involved to review documents or give advice.
