If you want to make sure buyers see your home as their perfect match, you need to be aware of what I like to call the “Tinder Effect.”
Do you know what the “Tinder Effect” is?
While this name (which I came up with myself) may be unfamiliar, the concept it represents is probably something you’ve encountered before.
If you, like me, have never used this popular app before, allow me to give you some quick background before I move on to today’s topic.
Users on Tinder are shown photos of potential “matches,” and are prompted to swipe left or right to indicate whether they’re interested in that person.
You can probably guess how this ties in to real estate. Yes, the Tinder Effect is the phenomenon of homebuyers making split-second judgments about online listings based on the first photos they see.
First impressions are essential. So unless you want to fall victim to the Tinder Effect yourself, you need to make sure your listing photos are absolutely immaculate. And beyond just representing your home in the best possible light, they should also highlight the features that are actually most prominent. If the shining star of your property is your living room, for example, then make sure the first photo buyers see isn’t of the guest bathroom, instead.
