The Porsche Museum, located in Stuttgart, Germany seems inaccessible at first glance. The large, bold structure seems to sit high above the ground, this feeling is enhanced by the reflective surface on its underside.
Inside there is a contemporary, futuristic feeling that blends with the cars and exhibits. Even the dining areas exude the same well crafted, high quality feel.
Delugan Meissl Associated Architects designed the museum. Their entry was selected from over 170 other submissions.
One concept was to give visitors the experience of seeing the building as a separate entity while also being able to go inside and experience it themselves. Another core idea was to incorporate the feelings of speed and passion from the Porsche cars into the structure itself.
The museum features over 80 vehicles, various exhibits that are changed regularly, and the company history. The 39-foot long “
“Porsche in the Mix” plays various soundtracks and allows visitors to include different sounds from the cars like doors closing and the engine revving. You can even compose an original track and email it to yourself.
Even if you aren’t planning a trip to Germany, you can check out the museum via a virtual tour on their website.
