Question:
“I want to buy a home but am trying to time the market right. I’m not sure if we’re in a mini-bubble or are still looking at a lot more appreciation. What do you think?”
Answer:
I sold two San Diego properties in 2003 and 2004. I missed the peak by some 10-20%. Do I regret it?
Not one bit.
With then 20 years (now 30!) as a real estate broker and investor, and an economics degree from UCLA, I didn’t expect to time the market perfectly, buying at rock bottom and selling at the very top.
So most other people shouldn’t expect to time it perfectly either, unless they’re a little smart and a LOT lucky.
Unless your crystal ball clears up or your Ouija board is working, I say go buy a home if you find one you love.
