Mission Hills
Mission Hills, as its name implies, sits atop a series of hills overlooking Old Town and Mission Valley. Development of the area began in the early 1900s, and during the 50s and 60s homes were built along the series of steep, greenery-filled canyons that break the neighborhood up into distinct segments.

What’s Cool About Mission Hills
Near Mission Hills’ center lies Pioneer Park, a grassy haven well-suited to family outings. It also includes a children’s playground, as well as old tombstones that hint at the area’s rich and fascinating history. The area is also home to Mission Hills Nursery, established in 1910 by famous botanist Kate Sessions. On its eastern border a broad selection of shops and restaurants is available, which increases as you begin to move toward the neighboring Hillcrest. An expansive golf course and a few large malls can be found immediately to the north.
Mission Hills’ upscale, tasteful homes are built in a variety of distinct architectural styles, from Prairie School to Spanish Colonial Revival, and many offer wonderful views of San Diego Bay and the surrounding city. The 5, 8, and 163 Freeways are all close at hand to provide quick access to Downtown and other San Diego highlights. Offering a tranquil respite from the flurry of activity in surrounding neighborhoods, this primarily residential area is truly an oasis in the hills. By Gary Kent
