Mission Valley
Mission Valley is a river valley divided by the San Diego River into Mission Valley East and West. There are many transportation options for the busy individual who wants to save money; public trolleys and buses are easy to use with many stops throughout San Diego. To reach other places, there are close-by connections to five of the major San Diego freeways – the 8, 5, 805, 163, and 15. Mission Valley contains a beautiful, historically rich national monument from when it was settled in the 1760s. This landmark, Mission San Diego de Alcalá, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and was the first mission built in California.

What’s Cool About Mission Valley
There are many other activities to enjoy as well. Mission Valley contains a branch of the San Diego Public Library. Shopping is a huge part of Mission Valley, which has three major malls: Westfield Mission Valley, Fashion Valley Mall, and Hazard Center Mall. Near Fashion Valley Mall, there is a YMCA which has fitness facilities, pools, workout classes, and summer camps for kids. Mission Valley also features one of the prized possessions of San Diego: Qualcomm Stadium. This is home to the Chargers (the San Diego NFL team) and the Aztecs (the San Diego State University football team). It is also very close to SeaWorld, a well-known amusement marine animal theme park.
Mission Valley contains a wide variety of employment industries. Because of its placement and employment options, the area has become less geared towards families, and more towards independent adults. The major housing choices are condominiums and apartments, though there are options for family homes as well. By Gary Kent
