Carmel Valley is a large and wealthy planned community that began its development in the early 1980s. It was named after the Carmelite Sisters of Mercy, who created a dairy farm and a monastery in the area in 1905. Its homes are often built on hilltops with lush views of the untouched canyons below.

Over half a dozen golf courses can also be found within a few miles of the area. Del Mar, Torrey Pines, and several stretches of beautiful beach lie just to the west, and Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve to the south provides wonderful hiking grounds.The Interstate 5 lies conveniently along Carmel Valley’s western border. The region has a high proportion of families and offers a broad selection of high-ranking schools. Some large companies such as Oracle and US Bank have offices in the area, and Sorrento Valley to the south provides additional jobs for the well-educated populace. For those looking for a spacious modern home and ample employment opportunities, Carmel Valley is a great place to start.
