What’s Cool About Rancho Bernardo
While Rancho Bernardo is primarily an urban setting, it’s surrounded by natural wonders. Black Mountain Open Space Park at the area’s southern border is a great place to hike, bike, ride horses, and enjoy the local wildlife. Lake Hodges runs along the northern border and offers its own abundance of activities, including swimming, picnicking, and fishing for carp and largemouth bass. Rancho Bernardo Community Park is the largest of several recreational areas in the region, featuring baseball, basketball, tennis, lawn bowling, and a dog park. One could even set out on an early morning round of golf at the Rancho Bernardo Country Club before a having a mouthwatering brunch at the neighboring El Bizcocho restaurant. Finally, the annual RB Alive street fair held features music, rides, arts and crafts, and plenty of dining options.
The I-15 freeway runs through the center of Rancho Bernardo, and the 56 is also close by to the south. Area residents tend to be married and fairly well off, and include a high proportion of retirees to the east. Homes in the area are modern and a bit more spacious than average, some with sweeping views of the surrounding open spaces. For anyone who wants to enjoy the benefits of urban life while maintaining a close bond with nature, Rancho Bernardo is an exceptional choice. By Gary Kent
