Vista
Once known as the “Avocado Capital of the World,” the City of Vista is located between the cities of Oceanside and San Marcos on Highway 78. As the Spanish name implies, Vista’s rolling hills provide many residents with beautiful views of Palomar Mountain to the east to the Pacific Ocean to the west. The area’s two theaters, Moonlight Amphitheatre and Avo Playhouse, mean there’s almost always a performance to see.

What’s Cool About Vista
Originally an agricultural area, Vista has grown following its incorporation in 1963 with a variety of communities in its borders. In the southern area of town is the master planned community of Shadowridge, with condos, houses, shopping areas and the Shadowridge Golf Course and Country Club. In the center of town, many custom homes were built in the old avocado and citrus groves in the hills near Brengle Terrace Park. The north and east areas of town feature higher hills that provide some of the most spectacular views with more expensive custom homes.
