University City
University City is a neighborhood in north-central San Diego. While it is not located directly on the coast, beautiful beaches are quite close by in neighboring La Jolla.
The area is divided into two main parts. South University City is made up largely of retirees, mostly homeowners, while North University City is populated more by young professionals, usually college graduates, who often rent homes, apartments, and condominiums.

What’s Cool About University City
University City is generally fast-paced, with a high percentage of well-educated people. This is due to the University of California San Diego being in its immediate vicinity. UCSD influences the lively, pleasant lifestyle and atmosphere of the area, because many of its residents go there or have graduated. It is relatively easy to get around to other areas as well, since University City is very close to the 5, 52, and 805 freeways. There are also many activities to be found in University City. The UTC mall is a well-known hotspot of this area with a variety of shops and restaurants. There are several local shopping centers in addition to this mall. There are a few mesas and canyons throughout the neighborhood, which are excellent places for hiking, bike riding, and walking. There are also many species of birds, which both add to the beauty of the nature and create opportunities for bird watching. Some parks that contain a number of these features are Standley Recreation Center and Park, Doyle Recreation Center and Park, and Rose Canyon Open Space Park as well as the University City Village Golf Course.
